Job Title: PR Manager

Are you a cycling expert? Are you aware of all the latest technological developments in all disciplines of Cycling? Do you have PR experience? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established UK retailer.

Job Overview:

This role is responsible for all aspects of public relations, this covers two areas: product reviews for our exclusive and owned brands, and mainstream coverage for the companies brand. As the media-facing voice of the company, your cycling knowledge and credibility are very important - as well as your communication skills, of course.

The former is about securing coverage and gaining credibility for our exclusive and owned brands within specialist cycling magazines, blogs and websites through their product review schedule. You will develop close relationships with journalists; keep track of what product tests are coming up and suggest exclusive/own brand products to be included. This will involve working closely with our buying team to identify our priority products.

Mainstream PR coverage to date has involved a mix of product placements and features. Your task is to define and own our PR strategy, create an annual plan and deliver the different activity. This is all managed in-house and will involve you building relationships with journalists and being the point of contact for all media enquiries.

Finally, as the product expert on exclusive and owned-brand products you will be involved in the marketing activity for those brands, working alongside the other members of the marketing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Cycling media product reviews

  • Working with the buying team to identify priority products for coverage.
  • Managing the forward planning cycle for all product placements.
  • Building strong relationships with key press contacts to become the first port of call for PR requests.

Monitoring & communication

  • Measuring the commercial impact of coverage where possible.
  • Creating a monthly coverage summary for internal distribution.
  • Working with the Retail Marketing Manager and Merchandising teams to share product reviews with our customer's in-store and online.

Leadership

  • Is positive and approachable and always demonstrating company values
  • Consciously challenges themselves, stretches their own skill boundaries and looks for opportunities outside their comfort zone.

Our expectations

  • Cycling expert, aware of all the latest technological developments in all disciplines of the sport.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills - confident 'managing up' as well as 'across'.
  • PR experience is preferred, as is having an existing network of contacts within the cycling media.
  • Displays commercial and business acumen.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.
