Job Title: Assistant Merchandiser

The Purpose of your role:

You will work as part of the B&M team to analyse stock, sales and margin from top line/Category level down to store and individual line level to maximise sales opportunity and availability whilst minimising risk to markdown.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working within the B&M team to constantly analyse stock, sales and margin from top line/Category level down to store and individual line level to maximise sales and availability whilst minimising risk to markdown.
  • Using the WSSI to control stock levels within OTB, to ensure cost to fill and appropriate cover is maintained.
  • Working closely with the buying teams to plan and manage forward commitment based on accurate estimates to ensure store and web availability within the confines of the OTB.
  • Assisting with the management of product lifecycle and range planning, collating data for lessons learnt, analysis of complex store profiles and in season trading.
  • To assist the Merchandiser and buyer in planning strategy by Product Group.
  • Ensure planned ranging fits store profile and make recommendations for extensions/de-ranging where necessary.
  • Management of space data required for option planning and store profiling.
  • Pro-active in approach, constantly searching for new ways to work more efficiently in either reporting or process.
  • Supporting the Merchandiser with ad hoc reporting, as well as aiding in the development of the
  • MAA's through on-going training and support.
  • Working together with the buying teams and in addition will involve liaising with the warehouse, marketing, stores, and web content and retail teams to achieve company goals.

Those ad hoc duties:

As with all roles, you may at times be required to carry out ad hoc duties; whether that is to support another team member, to take on additional responsibilities or to get

involved in project work that may impact not only on your department but also the wider business.

Requirements:

  • Experience at Assistant Merch level within merchandising or an experienced MAA ready for the next step.
  • Experience of managing team members.
  • Commercially aware with strong trading focus to maximise sales and profit whilst minimising markdown and cost of reduction.
  • Experience with Microsoft office and proficient in Excel.
  • Experience of working with WSSI's
  • Highly numerate
  • Good communication and excellent team player with a 'make it happen' attitude
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines within the team but also to work with initiative, proactively and manage own workload.
