Job Title: RF Engineering Manager

Responsibilities/ Main Purpose

To lead product development, providing innovative solutions, team leadership and act as Design Authority on behalf of the Company:

  • Develop and deploy the company's Engineering resources to meet customer and company objectives
  • Provide safe working environment for all manufacturing and associated employees and visitors and ensure legislative compliance in terms of health, safety, environment and other associated legislation and regulations

To promote positively of the company at all levels i.e. customers, suppliers, employees, management and investor, local communities and stakeholders as required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering Design and Development programs to specification and to agreed schedules.
  • To lead, manage the Engineering team, to set and guide achievement of challenging targets including: delivering cost effective solutions, quality in design, shorter design cycle times, whilst using best practice methods.
  • Provide design for cost solutions for product development that meet with the technical requirements and company processes for manufacture.
  • Maintain, deliver and develop key performance indicators and metrics for the Engineering dept.
  • Provide technical proposals in response to new opportunities.
  • Contribute to planning and tactical implementation of the strategic business plans to maximise value creation.
  • To support business development and sales in promoting the company, products and services and have contact with the customer base as required.
  • Work with the operations team to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Assist other departments in order to meet Company objectives
  • To review the performance of individuals in the team and identify areas for improvement and development using own influence and coaching skills.
  • To support HR as necessary to manage Employee relations.
  • To focus on personal development and self-improvement to be able to deliver the full expectations of the role and to progress career in line with personal aspirations and business needs.

Job Objectives:

  • To effectively lead and manage the Engineering function within SSIA UK, to deliver the business objectives (including cost, time, quality and relevant financial objectives) and develop the people, assets, process and organisation in order to achieve these goals.
  • Manage the evolution of the Engineering function supporting the business to optimise growth, financial performance and customer satisfaction.
  • To provide a safe working environment for all employees and ensure legislative compliance with respect to Health & Safety and environment and other associated regulations.

Education/ Experience:

  • Engineering/Technical based degree, HND or equivalent.
  • Relevant leadership and management experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a technical management role.

Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Experienced in design strategies to minimise EMC/EMI emanations from Electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of TEMPEST testing an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of RF and Electronic products.

Travel Requirements

The role is based in the companies Gloucester facility; occasional travel may be required to customers, suppliers and other company sites from time to time.
