Job Title: Business Development Manager

Do you have 5+ years of direct experience of working in a sales support/BD role in the professional services sector? Do you have a proven track record of leading business development initiatives to generate revenue growth? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly experienced team of people and company.

We are looking for a commercially minded, experienced senior BD professional to join its growing Business Development team. Reporting to the BD Director, you will support and drive the sales support function including opportunity and pipeline management, tender support, and client relationship management.

You will play a key role in supporting the firm's partners to achieve revenue growth, helping them nurture relationships with targets, and retain and grow existing clients.

Duties and responsibilities

Sales support

  • Coach partners through the firm's BD process and facilitate a strategic, targeted approach to client acquisition and growth.
  • Manage the firm's opportunity pipeline, playing a proactive role in helping partners cultivate targeted relationships through action-oriented plans.

Research

  • Research and analyse core data to identify patterns, trends and opportunities, and develop the findings into business development plans.
  • Identify opportunities for new product and service development.

Tender support

  • Champion tender best practice across the firm.
  • Manage the firm's tender pipeline to maximise win rates.
  • Provide proposal and presentation coaching to bid teams.

Client opportunities:

  • Work closely with the firm's partners and managers to develop profitable relationships with clients and ensure value-adding opportunities are maximised.
  • Manage the firm's client service review and key client programmes to grow existing client relationships.

Return on investment

  • Measure, evaluate and maximise the effectiveness and value of business development activities.
  • Work closely with other members of the BD team to provide a consistent and coordinated approach to business development.

International

  • Facilitate the development of strategic relationships with the company member firms to maximise collaboration and new business opportunities.
  • Manage the firm's inward/outward referral pipeline, helping partners convert leads into new clients.

Person Specification

Personal Attributes

Degree educated, you will have 5+ years of direct experience of working in a sales support/BD role in the

professional services sector, and a proven track record of leading business development initiatives to

generate revenue growth. A strong relationship builder and team player, you will encourage people at all

levels to identify opportunities, build relationships, and add value to clients.

Other important skills are:

  • Confident self-starter with high levels of initiative.
  • Credible communicator with strong influencing skills.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.
  • Highly-developed commercial awareness.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.

IT Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the use of CRM systems to develop and manage target, adviser and client relationship management.
