Job Title: Calibration Technician

Do you have previous experience within an Avionics repairer and overhaul provider? Have you got experience previously working in a lean/process-change environment? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly experienced team within a highly successful group.

Scope of Role:

To undertake the repair, test and calibration of aviation ground test equipment; avionics test equipment and general purpose test equipment.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Test, repair and calibration of ground test equipment, including aircraft battery chargers, avionics test equipment and general purpose test equipment.
  • Complete the fault finding, repair, testing and calibration process using specialised and general-purpose test equipment.
  • Complete accurate records and ensure that they are filed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the required level of quality and cost effectiveness, ensuring accuracy.
  • Keep abreast of company working practices and procedures and comply with health and safety requirements.
  • Undertake cross-training in other technical areas in line with requirements of the business.
  • Understand and utilise the Quantum system to ensure effective delivery.

Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions:

  • Subject to the needs of the business and level of competency carry out independent inspections on other technician repairs.
  • Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager.
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
  • At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • On occasion you may be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.
  • No staff management responsibility, however, guidance will need to be given to other members of the team at times of planned absence such as annual leave/sickness.

Limits of Fiscal/Management Authority:

  • Not permitted to change Business Management/SOP processes, procedures and guidelines without formal approval but expected to make recommendations.

Standard Company Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies requirements.

Professional Knowledge & Experience:

  • PC literate - Microsoft word, excel, databases.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Fully qualified calibration engineer with excellent experience.
  • Extensive experience in electronic repairs at component level.
  • Good RF experience with ability to repair complex RF circuits, microstrip technology.
  • Experience of frequency ranges from DC to 12 GHz, RF amplification and mixers.
  • Comprehensive hands on knowledge of calibration and repair of all types of general purpose test equipment including DMM's, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Fully conversant/understand UK and US terminology in technical manuals

Desirable

  • Previous experience within an Avionics repairer and overhaul provider.
  • Previously worked in lean/process-change environments.
  • Additional experience in another Aviation MRO sector.
  • Applicable OEM training.
  • Good working knowledge of aircraft systems.
  • Aviation or Military background.
  • Full understanding of regulatory requirements appertaining the supply of product for the Aerospace industry.
