Job Title: Procurement Officer

Do you have a Technical or Business Degree / CIPS qualification or extensive and demonstrable purchasing experience in a manufacturing or equivalent environment? Do you have strong knowledge of configuring and using ERP systems excel data analysis and MS office? Role Summary:

To create and maintain strategic relationships with our supply base, broadening it where necessary, alongside the execution of a daily purchasing function through the placing and execution of purchase orders.

Supplier management (Strategic Procurement):

  • You should establish and maintain strategic relationships with all necessary suppliers, business groups, or partners to ensure that we maintain an effective supply base.
  • You will put in place key supply contracts, SLA's or partnership agreements as necessary to set out each party's responsibilities and to ensure the company's interests are protected.
  • You will establish a robust supply chain with dual sourcing on key categories and implement buffer stocks to guard against disruption in supply.
  • You will assist the business in sourcing new products for resale or in the development of new products by sourcing new suppliers to support new product introduction plans.
  • You will if required, manage any RFI or RFQ process and lead this from conception through to conclusion, providing suitable analysis of data to all concerned.
  • You will monitor and maintain all price lists and formulas, contract agreements and variations.
  • You will hold regular performance meetings with suppliers to review performance and identify areas for improvement regarding costs, quality or delivery.
  • You will assist in setting up direct purchase agreements for back to back ordering by our Customer service team on items not held by the company and sold directly into the market.
  • You are accountable for the placing of all purchase orders within the business, and to ensure that a suitable process of delegation and responsibility is in place for others to follow.
  • You will assist in any Capital Asset Purchasing through RFQ and negotiation support.
  • Tactical purchasing (Sourcing).

System Development:

  • You will establish a suitable and effective purchasing systems which is both PC and paper based to support our current non-ERP situation, balancing simplicity with accuracy and time management.
  • You will set up a file structure to hold accurate records of all purchasing activity in a logical and easy to access way, ensuring that all necessary documents and records are kept up to date.
  • You will maintain a central pricing matrix or collection of files from which pricing analysis and purchasing can be referenced.
  • You will map the current Purchase order cycle and identify areas for improvement, looking at what the future should look like.

ERP Implementation:

  • You will be responsible for the introduction, specification and setting up of the new purchasing module, as part of our ERP implementation plan.
  • You will aim to fully utilise the ERP system planning tools as efficiently as possible, introducing automation where possible.
  • You will help to set up and install the system, training users in the operation of its function and ensuring all necessary disciplines are in place.
  • You will lead the development of the system through future phases, by looking at possible web-based portals, KPI modules and real time shop floor data, invoice automation or DDI data transmission.
  • You will be able to specify and create reports and relevant KPI's showing procurement performance using the ERP reporting tools.

Key skills/qualifications:

  • Technical or Business Degree / CIPS qualification or extensive and demonstrable purchasing experience in a manufacturing or equivalent environment to meet the job role.
  • Strong knowledge of configuring and using ERP systems, excel data analysis and MS office .
  • Full UK Driving licence, ability to travel and stay away when required at short notice.
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English, high level of numeracy and literacy.
