Summary:

Our customer is a highly success and well diversified manufacturing company supplying a wide variety of channel markets including Government, MOD, Prisons, Education, Fleet and Distribution Centres. They are looking for a Technical Quality Engineer to play a key role in implementing and achieving the overall Quality objectives for the company. You will work closely with the Quality Manager to implement and maintain all of the companies systems and processes relating to Quality, representing the company on technical quality issues affecting internal and external customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

As the he Technical Quality Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out testing, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis of component technical problems found in production, and for supporting the Production and R&D departments with technical quality issues.

They will also work with others within the business to drive continual improvement in order to minimise the cost of quality whilst maximising customer satisfaction through the delivery of on time, high quality and reliable products.

  • Working closely with the Production and R&D departments to investigate, resolve and prevent technical quality issues within operations, including root cause analysis and associated techniques
  • Carrying out and coordinating the testing of failed and faulty components from within the Production area, and supporting the R&D department when additional testing is required
  • Carrying out and coordinating the testing of components returned from customer sites, and working with customers and international distributors on all technical aspects of returns and Quality
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring that root cause is identified and corrective actions are raised in a timely manner, and co-ordinating preventative actions and follow up checks to verify completion
  • Working closely with Production, R&D and suppliers on continuous improvement and the achievement of reductions in reject rates
  • Managing the relationship with suppliers on technical quality issues
  • Managing and coordinating, from a technical perspective, the tests and field trials of new or modified products and components in conjunction with the R&D department
  • Managing an effective reporting system utilising verified data and KPI's to help drive continuous improvement
  • Being the primary Quality department interface with other internal departments on all technical aspects of quality management and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining, updating and implementing the company Quality and Information Security Management Systems in conjunction with the Quality Manager
  • Managing, coordinating and administering the regulatory conformance and compliance requirements
  • Assisting with the provision of advice and training for staff and personnel in matters of Quality

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that failed and faulty components are tested and investigated, through to resolution and the implementation of corrective measures
  • Responsible for managing and administering the testing of in-the-field component faults and failures, including the collation of data and providing reports to customers
  • Responsible for acting as the main Quality department point of contact with other internal departments, customers, and suppliers on technical quality-related issues
  • Responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in maintaining and implementing the company Business Management Systems and associated procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring that the conformity and compliance programmes for products meet the needs of the business

Education/Qualifications:

  • Degree educated, preferably within an Engineering / Electronics related discipline
  • Good English and Numeracy skills

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a Quality Engineering role within the electronics manufacturing or similar industry
  • High level of general technical and electronics knowledge, to include a clear understanding of electronic assembly processes and controls
  • In depth knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements and their implementation (similar experience of ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems would be advantageous)
  • The application of problem solving techniques within engineering and quality-related environments, including root cause analysis and associated methodologies
