Job Title: Product Design Engineer
Are you a Product Design Engineer from either an Industrial Design or Mechanical Design/Engineering background? Do you have experience of running multiple development projects? The role will involve all elements of design for best-in-class LED luminaires. An understanding of FEA/Thermal Simulation or Optical Design would be preferred but not essential.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teams across the business to develop best in class reliable LED lighting products
- Collaborate and own all stages of the design process from project scoping, basic concepts and proof of principle rigs through to production representative prototypes, engineering builds and mass production.
- Apply your knowledge of production technology, materials and finishes to challenge constraints and push boundaries of current designs
- Produce Engineering drawings & consider tolerance analysis
- Produce accurate Bills of Material (BoMs)
- Produce product designs using 3D CAD (preferably Siemens NX)
- Liaise with manufacturing locations and suppliers both in Europe and the middle-east
- Development of whole products as well as components, mechanisms and sub-assemblies
- Development of Custom Product solutions
- Manage individual projects through functional lab testing and then analysis of test data.
Requirements:
- 3D CAD Design - modelling, drawing, assembly (NX or similar)
- General product design and manufacturing experience (die-casting, injection moulding, plastic and aluminium extrusion, sheet metal fabrication, machining)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Design/Product Design or related field
- Highly motivated, full of initiative and lead by example
- Commercial awareness
