An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Fabrinet UK for an experienced Process & Product Engineer to join our Engineering Team

The primary function of these roles is to provide technical expertise to enable the manufacture of customer products to the highest quality standard and support associated manufacturing processes and equipment including improvement and technology projects

Key responsibilities include:-

  • Dealing with customer requirements, processes, customer visits and audits
  • Be the first point of contact for customers for any engineering related queries
  • Providing operating procedures and related documentation for current and new customer's product
  • Providing agreed and appropriate work instructions, equipment processes and procedures enabling manufacturing staff to build quality product at the first attempt
  • Identifying and resolving product and process related issues and barriers to success and propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues
  • Reporting on First Time Building performance maintaining status records of all products/projects within personal scope and responsibility. Providing feedback for functional management and customers with recommendations for action where appropriate
  • Participation in internal and external programme meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are provided with timely and accurate programme information and status updates
  • Applying current best practice manufacturing techniques and ensuring awareness as to the suitability of the product for manufacturing
  • Continual Process evaluation and recommend/implement improvements
  • Ensure process documentation is up-to-date and user friendly for both processes and machinery including Work Instructions
  • Support New Product Introduction
  • Introduce/implement Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and adopt a pro-active approach
  • Production equipment selection and its management
  • Research and implementation of new manufacturing processes
  • DFM
  • Maintenance

The ideal candidate will have:-

  • A degree in engineering
  • Experience in electronic engineering and electronic components
  • Proven track record and be technically competent in PCB, PCBA or mechanical, electro mechanical products (box-build) and processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant operational processes, procedures and technology including SMT, Selective & wave soldering, Profiling, Tooling design, conformal coating, cleaning and box build
  • Good practical and mechanical skills, technical applications or product/process engineering background and material knowledge
  • Experience of process flow design for new products
  • Experience of work instructions & relevant documentation creation
  • Lean & 6-Sigma experience
  • Familiar with TQM and Continuous Improvements environments
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex problems and items of equipment
  • Good commercial skills
  • Good influencing and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, Finisher/Completer, & Organised and self disciplined
  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
