To define, specify, design and build speciality broadcast systems to meet requirements, budgets and timelines as defined by customer / commercial/ engineering team.

The Role of Electronics Design Engineer:

  • To define, specify, design and build speciality broadcast systems to meet requirements, budgets and timelines as defined by customer / commercial/ engineering team.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Help shape the future product strategies and development projects for Camera Corps, placing us at the forefront of innovation in speciality cameras.
  • Specification, architecture, and design of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical systems through the full product lifecycle from concept to manufacture, delivery, operation and support.
  • Support the principal electronics design engineer in the design and development of a new range of fibre system products.
  • Meet cost, time and performance targets for projects and operational programme delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks in product design stage.
  • Deliver operational solutions on site, incorporating modifications and alterations as required to tight programme deadlines.
  • Provide improvements for existing electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical designs.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors to supply materials and/or services within specified deadlines.
  • Monitor projects against targets and organize counter measures when required.
  • Ensure that all work activity is carried out in accordance with Company and Statutory Health and Safety Requirements e.g. Electricity at Work Regulations, CoSHH, etc.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of all matters of broadcast engineering and operations as well as electronic and electromechanical engineering.
  • Assist in the maintenance and procurement of electronic test equipment and CAD software.

What are the key (minimum) requirements for a successful Electronics Design Engineer application?

  • Proven track record of bringing complex electronics development projects to successful fruition.
  • Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills.
  • Outstanding fundamental knowledge of electronic/electrical engineering principles and how to apply them.
  • Proven skill in the design, prototyping, debugging and testing of analogue and digital circuits including: video, audio, RF, microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, ADCs, DACs etc.
  • Design of embedded software and firmware.
  • Excellent knowledge of electronic & electrical test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant engineering design tools (Schematic Capture, Simulation, PCB layout etc.)
  • Ability to produce project documentation to a high standard including proposals, requirement specifications, test specifications, functional descriptions and project progress reports.
  • Full understanding of broadcast electronic protocols including SDI, HDMI, AES and MADI.
  • Minimum 3 years electronic product design experience.
  • Proficient in embedded C for microcontrollers
