The Role of Business Data Architect

  • Ensures that the key dimensions and hierarchies for VT are available within the CDL from a defined set of master data views or that is attached to transactional data views when relevant.
  • Identify the inconsistences in data schemas from source systems, the need for harmonisation and give direction on a sustainable approach to achieve commonality by agreed strategies for harmonisation and alignment of these inconsistent source data.
  • Reviewing the functional need for data and consult on the structures to be created in CDL, ensuring they are optimised and do not duplicate data that is already available. Specifically analysing the information sources and flows to be able to recommend the correct acquisition and efficient storage of data.
  • Maintain a heat-map that describes the status of the data available.
  • Determine a process and maintain a repository to document the CDL and track the down-stream data users, providing the knowledge that will support technical change management and data auditing.
  • Identify and guide on the optimisation of data that is used and strategies for archiving.

What are the key (minimum) requirements for a successful Business Data Architect application?

  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles and concepts in ERP systems and Business Warehousing.
  • Development experience in a programming language, e.g. Python, R, Java, C/C++ or SQL
  • Has a working knowledge of some part of ERP systems and can navigate existing reports and transactions to validate data (identifies different document type, movements, hierarchies, characteristics etc).
  • Conversant with GDPR and security standards and solutions.
  • Qualified in a well-known professional certificate e.g. CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional).
  • Hands-on experience with at least 3 of the following: Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Migration, Master Data Modelling, Data Quality Management or Information Governance.
  • Support for ~100 analyst developers, process owners and subject matter experts utilising data from HANA
