Quality Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the ETG Operations Director, the principal objective of the Quality Manager is to ensure that the Group products are fit for purpose, are consistent and meet both external and internal requirements, coordinating the internal activities to ensure such quality standards are achieved.

KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES:

  1. Maintain the laboratory UKAS accreditation;
  2. Develop and maintain the Calibration Laboratory quality systems, Quality Manual and procedures to meet the UKAS requirements in accordance ISO 17025;
  3. Maintain the site Quality Management System in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015;
  4. Maintain the audit programs for the above standards and conduct technical audits of the calibration laboratories;
  5. Quality management of two busy calibration laboratories;
  6. Workload management to meet customer delivery requirements;
  7. Maintain a good level of housekeeping in the laboratories and observe all health and safety requirements;
  8. Maintenance of the departments KPI's;
  9. Maintenance of the site gauge control system and re-calibration program;
  10. Solve day to day quality / inspection queries as well as answering customer issues;
  11. Monitor internal scrap and rework;
  12. Research with external resources ensuring effective information gathering and planning for new legislation;
  13. Direction and support in relation to key legislation, legal bodies, external regulators and trading standards etc.;
  14. Accountable for effective identification of global product packaging requirements, internal testing, process control verification, identification of effective working processes, Pack Copy processing and creation of specifications and test methods;
  15. Support the NPD process by overseeing Risk Assessments;
  16. Ensure the Internal Audit Schedule and Log are complete and on time;
  17. Support Customer Liaison and Customer Complaints Control;
  18. Oversee the NCR process and the Returns Analysis on Customer Returned Products;
  19. Administer the Complaints Report and trend analysis.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced and often demanding engineering environment
  • Demonstrable Metrology / Calibration experience preferable
  • Experience in a quality management role
  • Lead Auditor training knowledge and experience
  • Experience of managing a quality system within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and ISO 9001:2015
  • Experience of performing Gauge R&R studies
  • Experience of operating at management level

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Educated to degree / HNC level or strong Mechanical Engineering background
  • Ideally lead auditor trained
  • Competent in preparation of uncertainty budget analysis for measurement standards
  • Competent in providing technical advice on metrology issues
  • Good working knowledge & application of quality investigations and report writing
  • Ability to read engineering drawings with a sound understanding of geometrical tolerancing
  • Experience in the use and calibration of Bore Gauging equipment
  • Procedure writing and maintenance of company standards and documentation
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Competent project / time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills to interact successfully at all levels
  • Sound decision making skills
  • Excellent Computer skills including Microsoft Office specifically, Excel, Word & Powerpoint + SAP experience advantageous
