As the Engineering Services Manager you will effectively partner with commercial and production departmental heads and their teams to ensure opportunities for developing new engineering capability are maximised and engineering solutions are delivered in a timely manner, to budget meeting quality and service expectations of our customer base. In support of this goal, this individual must be an excellent communicator at all levels of the business.

Key elements include a very hands-on approach, leading by getting involved with the processes and people to ensure understanding and achievement of the key tasks and goals.

Ensuring the Engineering and Facilities operational throughput is maximized and schedules are met in line with company strategic and organizational requirements, training and development of the Engineering and Facilities team, Rigorous control for Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality, maintaining compliance with all industry standard regulations.

Working with Operations and Engineering to deliver engineering improvements across a breadth of activities; supporting existing and new products defining new and supporting existing processes, quantifying costs and reporting.

Providing technical support for Engineering, ensuring NCR's and Audit Findings raised on the company Non-Conformance System are fully investigated and completed in a timely manner.

Engineering: New Product Development, Continuous Improvement, Management of the Technical Library including Service Letters, AD's, SB's, Customer Supplied Technical Data, Tooling Control (Equivalency), Tooling Design, Tooling Drawing, Planning of Maintenance Records for production requirements.

Facilities: Machine Maintenance, Machine Breakdown, Preventative Maintenance, Service Contracts, Project Leadership, Project Support, Optimisation of Equipment

  • Plan, organise and direct the Engineering and Facilities operations.
  • Plan training and development of the Engineering and Facilities team.
  • Complete APDR process in a timely manner, delivering Staff Competence and Behaviours for the Engineering and Facilities Team, supported by the Facilities Manager.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve manpower utilisation and process improvement within the Engineering and facilities Team.
  • Identify and support with implementation of initiatives to improve manpower utilisation and process improvement for the continuous Improvement process for Stansted.
  • Continually review activities to deliver maximum return on efficiencies whilst operating in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure quality requirements are always met.
  • Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement; maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage effective communication through Engineering and Facilities Team.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.

Relevant Engineering Qualification

  • Lean certification
  • Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 2 or above, or equivalent
  • Certificate in Risk Assessment

  • Demonstrable experience in line management within an Aviation/Engineering environment
