As the Senior Project Manager, you will take full accountability for the planning, governance and delivery of New Product Development & Introduction (NPI) projects. You will manage the full lifecycle from concept to delivery and post-launch review. The role shall have strong decision-making authority across a matrix project team. Projects are combinations of in-house designed and manufactured products, to externally sourced, designed, and manufactured products. Additionally, the role will support the coaching and development of other PMO (Programme Management Office) team members and the deployment of the NPI process.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coach and support less experienced PMO team members
  • Support engagement of PMO into other functional areas.
  • Support development of best practice processes and templates to support NPI process.
  • Manage project budgets and costs vs target.
  • Manage on time, on specification and on cost delivery of the programme/project.
  • Own and manage the timing plan through the project.
  • Manage risks and issues through the project (both technical and commercial).
  • Manage change requests through the project and communicate impact in terms of time, cost and requirements.
  • Manage overall project budget and maintain financial reports.
  • Lead weekly project meeting and maintain weekly ADI log (Actions, Decisions, Issues).
  • Lead monthly project steering group meetings and provide monthly project report.
  • Matrix manage the project team including engineering & design team, manufacturing, quality, finance, marketing, product management, supply chain management, user experience team.
  • Develop and enforce the use of standardised engineering processes and tools where appropriate. (e.g. FMEAs, Root cause analysis, etc.)
  • Prepare for and lead project milestone reviews.
  • Support and contribute to the continuing development of the company's New Product Development & Introduction (NPI) processes.

We would love to speak to anyone for the Senior Project Manager position who has the following experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (mechanical, electrical & electronic, manufacturing, automotive, aeronautical, design) or significant relevant experience.
  • A strong degree of creativity, innovation & problem-solving ability.
  • Significant experience in developing products with technical content (mechanical, electrical, electronics, software).
  • Demonstrable success in multiple technical project & programme management.
  • Excellent understanding of best practice project and programme management methodology & techniques (ideally APM, Prince2, or PMP certified).
  • Familiar with project financial metrics like IRR, ROI, NPV.
  • Familiar with product financials like detailed BOM cost analysis, COGS, Margins.
  • Active knowledge of Quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001).
  • The role will require occasional travel within the UK and overseas (estimated 10% - 20%).
