As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will determine the repair & overhaul processes required to achieve workshop goals according to product specifications. Work with operations to identify issues and opportunities with product and performance; recommends solutions or enhancements. Plans and designs methods to improve efficiency, train employees on new processes and methods, and improve equipment availability and capability by utilising continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.

  • Undertake technical evaluation of the repair and overhaul of aircraft components and associated systems to deliver engineering solutions to the workshop
  • Reverse engineering of component assembly supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects
  • Design and / or upgrade of workshop tooling and equipment within budget capable of meeting component test specification parameters
  • Create and write workshop SOPs for workshop employee guidance translated from component maintenance manuals
  • Lead and / or support New Product Development (NPD) projects to deliver on time to budget further component capability for the business
  • Offer technical support, in the event of equipment breakdown and fault-finding support to the maintenance team and shop floor
  • Workstation design including improved layouts for safety, quality, and efficiencies
  • Supporting 5S practices
  • Using industrial engineering methods to identify process standard hours and opportunities for improvement
  • Leverage extensive knowledge to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner
  • Focus on continual development and implementation of lean management processes and operational excellence to further enhance workshop efficiencies using root cause analysis when required

To be successful in this role of Manufacturing Engineer we would love to speak to anyone who has experience of:

  • Proven relevant experience; experience of ERP, equipment, tooling, workstation design
  • Good knowledge of safe working practices (e.g. LOTO, working on live equipment) and associated EHS requirements
  • Experience of investigating performance and quality issues using Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies; can anticipate problems before they arise.
  • Good Knowledge of assembly and inspection techniques
  • Good IT skills across MS Office and CAD, able to learn other company systems quickly
