Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 per annum

The Purchaser is a key role in supporting both workshop business and spare parts supply and due to the complex nature of the product and in many cases a complex low volume, highly bespoke supply chain an experienced Purchaser is required. The role has some hybrid working opportunity once initial induction and training is complete but will always be predominantly a site-based role.

  • Plan and manage procurement of materials to support the company's overhaul and repair services on site as well as for spare parts sales to end users
  • As an experienced buyer take ownership of procurement projects to support specific parts of the business
  • Lead and mentor other buyers as required
  • Develop the performance of the local supply chain initially to improve performance in the supply of materials to our legacy product ranges, mainly from engineering machine shops
  • Source new suppliers as required to improve overall performance
  • Actively participate with Sales and Projects and be accountable for purchasing deliverables ensuring they are accomplished with suppliers in support of active projects
  • Be the official communication link between the project team and the supplier in terms of project related contractual documentation (tender, order, drawings, changes, additional scope of work, and if required invoicing issues etc.)
  • Coordinate, if necessary, internal support teams to assist the supplier in delivering the service / product

To be successful in this role of Purchaser we would love to speak to anyone who has experience of:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience of purchasing from engineering machine shops
  • Experience of working in an Engineering (mechanical) environment is essential
  • Degree qualified and membership of CIPS advantageous
  • Knowledge of value chain management, as well as procurement and supply management principles and practices
  • Experience of working in a multi-site group of companies with extensive intercompany purchasing
  • Experience of an ERP system essential, current system used is Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) but moving to SAP4 / Hana within 2 years
  • Must possess a strong customer service orientation and sense of urgency
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK with some European travel
