To keep pace with current demand and to help drive and support growth we are now recruiting for a Supplier Development Engineer to join our growing Purchasing team. You will drive supplier qualification, new product development support, supplier corrective action and supplier related product investigation. You will be the primary contact for communication of supplier quality alerts working with key stakeholders within the company including Quality, NPI, Engineering, Sales and Production teams to ensure minimal impact. You will work closely with our supply chain to understand and develop key manufacturing processes for our key material and assembly requirements and drive APQP activities at supply base through to PSW submission and ongoing production.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Creating or assisting in supplier risk assessments and identifying areas which are critical to quality
  • Responsible for leading the solution for supplier component concerns driving Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) best practice
  • Working with our Engineering teams to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • Interface with Quality to prioritise supplier development needs to drive component quality
  • Reporting supplier performance and KPIs to management
  • Support with maintaining our Approved Supplier List (ASL)
  • Research external market information and exploit latest sourcing techniques to identify potential sources and suppliers
  • Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost and quality and fulfillment to meet requirements of industry management systems eg. ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Manage our supplier audit schedule to ensure audits are completed and closed out in a timely manner
  • Working with Supply Chain to facilitate New Product Introduction to include witnessing of production component readiness i.e. Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification and Performance Qualification runs
  • Assisting in the development & implementation of supplier management programmes

About you:

  • Have a Minimum 3 years' experience in a Supplier Development role or working directly in a supply chain environment
  • Have the ability to read engineering drawings including interpreting tolerances & critical quality design features
  • Have a good understanding of Quality Management Systems - ideally ISO9001:2015
  • Experience and knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, FAIR, 8D and SPC validation processes & techniques
  • Experience in metal pressings and plastic injection molding manufacturing processes would be advantageous
  • Being a certified Lead Auditor (ISO-13485:2016 preferably) would be an advantage
  • Ability to travel worldwide up to 50% of the time and at short notice if necessary
