Job Title: Graduate Buyer
Responsibilities:
Commercially manage a base of suppliers:
- Negotiating
- Maintain Current Quotes and Contracts
- Perform and document Supplier Appraisals and Performance reviews
- Identify and implement corrective actions for non-performing suppliers
- Identify and implement cost savings in line with factory and sourcing targets
- Complete Document archiving and control
- Provide cost analysis including benchmark data for suppliers
Assist and support the new product development process:
- Issuing RFQ and/or RFI to suppliers
- Sourcing new suppliers for new components
- Ensure timely delivery of first-off samples and components
- Order, track and expedite preproduction quantities
- Data entry and maintenance
- Raise and drive Product Change Requests
- Deal with purchase price variance reporting
- Compile vendor rating reports and generate month end figures
- Support the planning function in achieving inventory targets through minimum order quantity
- reductions, lead time reductions and supplier selection.
- Support planning on extraordinary supply issues.
Requirements:
- Strong and proven negotiating skills
- Able to identify critical issues and prioritize workload effectively
- Ability to work comfortably with both internal customers and external suppliers,
- Identify key stakeholders and be able to obtain sponsorship and support
- Strong skills in the use of Excel, Word & PowerPoint,
- An eye for detail and ability to analyze and interpret data
- Self-motivated and able to work to agreed deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and in a stretching environment
- Ideally working towards Sourcing (CIPS) qualification
- Degree level qualification
- Some travel may be required
